Adam Dean is the portfolio manager of the CMLS Mortgage Fund and responsible for mortgage investment mandates under CMLS Asset Management Ltd. Adam’s primary focus is on building and maintaining the trust of our valued investor partners, prudent investment selection and portfolio management, and structuring our related processes to meet our investors’ credit and yield objectives.
Adam has more than 10 years’ experience in the mortgage industry, with a focus on institutional investment mandates, portfolio management and securitization. Prior to joining CMLS in 2011, Adam obtained his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia with a specialization in Finance. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Ryan McArthur is the associate portfolio manager of the CMLS Mortgage Fund and is primarily focused on investment selection and structuring of the portfolio. Ryan is involved in all mortgage investment mandates under CMLS Asset Management.
Ryan has over 6 years’ experience in the financial services industry, having been with CMLS since 2019 focusing on both discretionary and non-discretionary capital and securitization programs. Ryan began his career at CI Global Asset Management in 2017, following a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University with a major in Finance. Ryan is also a CFA charterholder.
Mr. Lee is responsible for managing all compliance aspects of the CMLS Financial Group and is involved in the day to day operations of the Manager, including regulatory compliance. He has 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
Mr. Lee began his career with KPMG LLP in Vancouver and spent several years at the BC Securities Commission overseeing portfolio managers, investments fund managers and exempt market dealers. Mr. Lee is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA charterholder.
Ms. Maisonneuve is the original and integral member of the CMLS capital raising team and is responsible for the growth of the flagship Mortgage Fund from $20M to over $150M in assets under management. She continues to secure distribution at a number of retail investment firms, serving high-net-worth individuals, investment advisors, and family offices across Canada. In 2023 and 2024 Cynthia was nominated as BDM of the Year by the Wealth Professional.
Ms. Maisonneuve is a graduate of Ryerson University and a registered dealing representative with the OSC and has over 13 years of experience specializing in corporate credit, liquid alternative, OM, and prospectus-based strategies at some of the top alternative asset management firms in the country. Prior to CMLS Asset Management in 2018, she spent several years working at RBC, RBC DS, and Fidelity Investments. Cynthia is the co-founder of the Alts x Alts Conference Series and Founder and Chair of the CMLS Women’s Employee Resource Group which is focused on supporting the women in the organization and their professional growth and development.
James Grafton is the Western Regional Sales Manager at CMLS Asset Management based in Calgary, Alberta. James has over 11 years of experience in the financial services industry, with expertise spanning personal and small business banking, credit lending, private equity, and venture capital.
Before joining CMLS in July of 2024, he began his career at RBC Royal Bank in 2013, providing award-winning retail banking advice to a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals and small business owners. In 2019, James co-founded Grafton Ventures Inc., a hybrid private equity, venture capital, and family office group. In 2023, he joined an Exempt Market Dealer registered in Alberta and British Columbia, offering private issuer investment opportunities focused on the Western Canadian real estate lending market. James graduated from UBC Okanagan in 2013 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Economics.
Mira Sykora provides sales and investor relations support for the CMLS Asset Management Sales and Investment team. Mira’s primary focus is to provide best-in-class service to investors and advisors across Canada and support the team's goals of growing the AUM of the CMLS Mortgage Fund.
Before joining CMLS in January of 2024, she established 5 years of experience in various sales roles. Mira obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2023 from Western University, specializing in Media Studies and Political Science. Mira is currently working towards becoming a Registered Dealing Representative.
Mr. Gage is past chair of the Board of Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management (PH&N). His career at PH&N spanned more than 20 years including 5 years as President and CEO.
Mr. Gage also served on the Board of Public Service Plan from 2006 – 2015, where he chaired the Investment Committee from 2009 – 2015. As chair of the Investment Committee, he was responsible for overseeing the investment management function.
Michael retired from Phillips, Hager ∓ North Investment Management (PH&N) in 2020 after 26 years and a career in the investment management business spanning 40 years. At PH&N Mr. Borden was responsible for the mortgage investment strategies which saw the AUM grow from less than $200 million in 2002 to over $6 billion in 2020.
Mr. Borden sits on the Board of the BC Cancer Foundation as well as the Investment Committee and sits as an Advisor to the CMHC Pension Fund Investment Committee. Mr. Borden holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation and Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University.
David Franklin is the former president of the CMLS Group. Mr. Franklin joined CMLS in 1995 and has over 30 years’ of experience in real estate finance.
Prior to joining CMLS in 1995, Mr. Franklin held senior managerial positions with some of Canada’s leading private and public sector real estate finance operations, including CMHC. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Urban Land Economics program and a member of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia.
Chris Brossard is the former Chief Executive Officer of the CMLS Group. Mr. Brossard has been involved in real estate finance and investment management for over 25 years.
Prior to joining CMLS in 2003, Mr. Brossard held several senior executive positions and has been a principal in private equity, real estate and real estate finance firms. Mr. Brossard holds a Canadian Chartered Accountant designation and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
Sam Brown is President and Head of Commercial of the CMLS Group and has over 20 years of experience in the real estate industry.
Prior to joining CMLS in 2011, Mr. Brown spent 3 years with a commercial real estate asset manager based in London, UK. He also worked with a leading audit, tax and advisory services company in their real estate assurance practice in both Vancouver and London. Mr. Brown is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia.
